PARLIN, NJ — A Parlin man is accused of smuggling contraband into South Woods state prison in South Jersey, while he was incarcerated there for a 15-year prison sentence for armed robbery.
James Gallichio, 42, was released in September 2024. His prison sentence was from 2012 to 2024. He is accused of being part of the contraband ring while in prison.
In September 2024, the NJ Dept. of Corrections received a tip that a senior corrections officer, Kenneth Stinson, 39, Penns Grove, was introducing contraband into the prison in exchange for money, said NJ Corrections officials.
Stinson was suspended effective March 25, 2025.
Officials say the ring was made up of Stinson, people currently serving jail sentences, plus former inmates who were released from South Woods and civilians. All six were criminally charged June 1 by the Cumberland County Prosecutor.
Charged are:
Stinson was charged with third-degree money laundering and introduction of contraband.
Gallichio was charged with third-degree money laundering.
Rashawn Bond, 49, Leesburg, NJ was charged with third-degree money laundering.
John Tracy, 50, Glassboro, NJ was charged with third-degree money laundering.
Desiree Tracy, 52, Glassboro, NJ was charged with third-degree money laundering.
Melanie Posey, 53, Conyers, GA was charged with third-degree money laundering.
