Middlesex Co. Man Charged In Parking Lot Shooting That Injured 2

PERTH AMBOY, NJ — A Perth Amboy man has been charged with attempted murder following a June shooting that left two people injured, Middlesex County Prosecutor Linda Estremera and Perth Amboy Police Chief Lawrence Cattano said.

Jarvis McCloud, 46, of Perth Amboy, was arrested after an investigation conducted jointly by the Perth Amboy Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office, authorities said.

On June 25 around 10:51 p.m., authorities responded to the parking lot of 178 Front Street following a report of shots fired. Officers arrived to find two people suffering from gunshot wounds — one shot in the neck and the other wounded in the leg and hand, according to police. Both were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment.

McCloud was identified as the perpetrator during an investigation.

He was taken into custody in Philadelphia on July 23 following a coordinated operation involving the U.S. Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force Trenton Division and the U.S. Marshals Service Eastern District of Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force, according to police.

McCloud was charged on June 28 with first-degree attempted murder, two counts of second-degree aggravated assault, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

He is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center pending a pre-trial detention hearing.
