WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Four suspects robbed an Indian jewelry store in Woodbridge Saturday night, according to Woodbridge Police.
9Lakha Jewelers on Oak Tree Road, in Woodbridge's Iselin section, was burglarized of nearly all its inventory.
This happened at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, said police. The store was open at the time and the co-owner, a man, was inside with a customer.
The suspects arrived in a silver SUV; someone driving by took cell phone video of the SUV parking outside the store and the four men dashing inside. Perth Amboy Local Scoop posted the video: facebook.com/watch/?v=1017956067749385
Four men dressed all in black and wearing black face masks came inside. They smashed numerous display cases with sledgehammers and took approximately one million dollars in jewelry.
The entire burglary lasted less than a minute, according to the store owners. They made off with nearly the store's entire inventory.
The owner and the customer ran into a back room for safety, and were not harmed, News 12 reported.

In June 2025, Virani Jewelers was burglarized in a very similar smash-and-grab robbery. The suspects, again four men, broke in at 12:40 p.m. on a Saturday, smashed jewelry cases and grabbed jewelry, which they dumped into plastic bags, and then ran off.
