Woodbridge Woman Accused Of Leaving Dogs To Starve In Crates Charged With Animal Cruelty

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A Woodbridge woman is now charged with five counts of animal cruelty after police say she left several dogs, plus other animals, locked inside crates and left town.

All the animals starved to death, said police.

Kasey Digirolamo was charged Sunday with five counts of third-degree animal cruelty, according to New Jersey court records.

Last Wednesday evening, Aug. 26, Woodbridge Police were called to a home on Douglas Street for a welfare check of a resident, said Woodbridge's chief law enforcement officer, Brian Murphy.

He said police officers were met with a foul order when they approached the home. They went inside. Inside, they found numerous dogs kept in crates, plus hamsters and lizards in crates, all dead.

The animals all died from starvation.

Digirolamo was nowhere to be found.

Neighbors on the block say the home is owned by her family, and that she had been living there. It remains unknown if Digirolamo has been apprehended by police, or if she remains at large.

Woodbridge Animal Control officers and county OEM employees in full haz mat suits were pictured removing the carcasses of the dogs and other pets from the home.
