Woodbridge Woman Accused Of Starving 5 Dogs Missing, Wanted By Police

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — The Woodbridge woman accused of leaving five dogs, plus a lizard, to starve inside their crates remains at large, and has not been located or arrested by law enforcement.

Kasey DiGirolamo, 34, is charged with five counts of third-degree animal cruelty, said Woodbridge Police Director Joseph Nisky.

Last Wednesday evening, Aug. 26, Woodbridge Police were called to a home at 64 Douglas Street for a welfare check of DiGirolamo. She had been out of contact with family and friends since Monday of that week, Aug. 24, and her family asked police to check on her in the home.

Officers went to the home, where they met a family member and neighbors. Neighbors on the block say the home is owned by her family, and that she had been living there.

They told police that DiGirolamo had not been seen at the property for an extended period of time.

Police, along with the property owner, entered the home and were met with a foul-smelling odor.

A search inside the home uncovered the decomposing carcasses of five dogs (in separate crates) and a deceased reptile inside a fish-type tank.

The animals all died from starvation, said police. DiGirolamo was nowhere to be found. She did not leave any food or water out for them. Inside the home was "an obvious hoarding situation," said police.

The whereabouts of DiGirolamo are still currently unknown. She remains at large. Woodbridge Police filed a missing persons report for her with the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).

She is ordered to appear in Middlesex County Superior Court in New Brunswick on Sept. 24.

Woodbridge Animal Control officers and county OEM employees in full haz mat suits were pictured removing the carcasses of the dogs and other pets from the home.
