Avenel Amazon Warehouse Getting Solar Panels

The Amazon warehouse in Avenel will be getting solar panels, as will Amazon warehouses in Carteret and Robbinsville.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ - Amazon announced Friday it will be installing solar systems on 50 fulfillment facilities worldwide, including at its warehouse here in Woodbridge.

The Amazon warehouse in Avenel will be getting solar panels, as will Amazon warehouses in Carteret and Robbinsville. Those are the three warehouses in New Jersey that will be getting solar panels.

The solar panels will be up and working by the end of 2017, Amazon says. Once complete, they will generate up to 41 megawatts of power at Amazon facilities in California, New Jersey, Maryland, Nevada and Delaware. Depending on the time of year, a solar installation could generate as much as 80 percent of a single fulfillment facility's annual energy needs, Amazon said.
