Beloved NJ Teacher Dies Suddenly At School

Popular business education teacher Jeffrey Grimm died at the high school, where he was found by school staff, said Woodbridge Police.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A beloved teacher at Woodbridge High School died suddenly Wednesday, according to police and Woodbridge schools superintendent Joseph Massimino.

The teacher is Jeffrey Grimm, a longtime business teacher at Woodbridge High School. He also worked as the offensive line football coach for Matawan Regional High School.

Grimm died while at work at Woodbridge High School Wednesday afternoon. He was found by school staff, who called 911, said Woodbridge Police Director Robert Hubner. His death is not being viewed by police as suspicious.

"The Woodbridge Township School District community is devastated by the passing of beloved business teacher Jeffrey Grimm," wrote Massimino in this letter home to parents. "Mr. Grimm was an important member of our Woodbridge High School staff and he will be deeply missed ... We ask that you keep the Grimm family in your thoughts and prayers."

Students were crying in the high school Wednesday as news of his death spread through the school, said Woodbridge mom Kristine Heller. She said she personally did not know Grimm but said he was very well liked and well known throughout the Woodbridge and Matawan communities.

Woodbridge High School will have extra grief counselors on hand for all students Thursday and Friday.

The Matawan-Aberdeen school district said they were similarly saddened by his death.
