The First Year Matters: Building Your Baby’s Brain Through Everyday Moments

The first year is filled with powerful opportunities for connection, learning, and development. Join the Woodbridge Public Library, September 23 at 7PM for this interactive virtual workshop, parents and caregivers will explore how simple everyday moments such as talking, feeding, playing, movement, and responding to a baby’s cues can support early brain development, communication, regulation, and healthy relationships.
Parents will learn how to recognize their baby’s early communication, understand why responsive interactions matter, and discover practical ways to support development during routines they are already doing every day.
Participants will leave with:
• A better understanding of how babies learn and develop during the first year
• Simple ways to support connection and communication through everyday routines
• Practical ideas for play, movement, and exploration
• Strategies for noticing and responding to their baby’s individual cues
• Easy ideas they can begin using at home right away

Carmelina Coppola is an Infant & Early Development Neuro-Movement Educator, Certified Parent Educator, and Newborn Care Specialist serving families throughout Middlesex and Union Counties. She has extensive hands-on experience supporting parents and infants from birth through the first year of development, with additional training in pediatric sleep education, trauma-informed embodiment practices, and early developmental movement support.
