NJ Man Charged With Attempted Murder Of Newborn Son
An infant remains in critical condition and the child's father, 20, of Carteret, has been charged with first-degree attempted murder.
CARTERET, NJ — A Carteret man has been charged with first-degree attempted murder after authorities say his infant son was critically injured in his care, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said.
Authorities said they received a 911 distress call just after 1 p.m. Tuesday from a home on Clauss Street. The caller reported a six-week-old infant had facial and head injuries. The baby was transported to Saint Peters Hospital for treatment, where he remains in critical condition as of Friday morning.
Police determined the infant’s injuries occurred while the child was in the custody of his father, Ezekiel Crespo, 20, of Carteret. Crespo has been charged with first-degree attempted murder and second-degree child endangerment. He is currently being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center.
