Coronavirus In Middlesex County Nursing Homes: Cases, Deaths
Some facilities are reporting very high numbers: The New Jersey Veterans Home at Menlo Park, for example, has 86 cases and 25 deaths.
About half of all Middlesex County's coronavirus deaths have taken place in nursing homes, rehabilitation centers or long-term care facilities.
This is according to the latest data released by the state Department of Health this week.
There have been 345 total COVID-19 deaths in Middlesex County to date, and 169 of those — or 48 percent — have taken place in nursing homes.

The death rate for coronavirus inside nursing homes is also much higher than in the regular population: In Middlesex County, there have been 8,346 positive test results, and 345 deaths, or 4 percent. In Middlesex County nursing homes, there have been 948 cases so far, and 169 deaths, or 17 percent.
"This is one area we knew would be a problem and we dedicated resources from the start," Dan Regenye, public health coordinator for the Ocean County Health Department, told the Toms River Patch. "They're just such a fragile, high-risk population."

Also this week, for the first time ever, the state Department of Health released the names of all the nursing homes in the state that have COVID-19 cases, and the number of deaths that have taken place in each home. The numbers represented at these facilities include patients and employees who have tested positive.
In Middlesex County, 38 nursing homes have outbreaks as of Monday. The full list is below.

The state of New Jersey has been pressuring the owners and managers of long-term care facilities to report COVID-19 information to patients, employees and patients' families, Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli said Monday.
In Camden County, county officials saying they are "horrified" by the loss of life at nursing homes, according to the Gloucester Township Patch. Camden County officials have taken over random inspections of these homes from state officials during the coronavirus pandemic.
As of Monday, April 20, the following is a list of all the nursing homes in Middlesex County that have reported COVID-19 cases, the number of confirmed cases in each nursing home and the number of COVID-19 deaths:

- Park Place Center in South Brunswick: 51 cases, 12 deaths
- Atrium Post-Acute Care and Rehab of Princeton: 53 cases, 13 deaths
- Aristacare at Cedar Oaks in South Plainfield: 85 cases, 17 deaths
- Cranbury Center in Monroe: 40 cases, 19 deaths
- NJ Veterans Home at Menlo Park: 86 cases, 25 deaths
- Monroe Village Senior Living in Monroe: 8 cases, 4 deaths
- Parker at Landing Lane in New Brunswick: 17 cases, 6 deaths
- Care One at the Highlands, Edison: 67 cases, 8 deaths
- Alameda Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare Perth Amboy in Perth Amboy: 55 cases, 8 deaths
