Drop Off Old Shoes at Edison Animal Shelter
The shelter needs a new coat of paint, new flooring and the dog kennels need to be renovated, shelter manager Kirsten Arcell said.

Edison, NJ - From now until April 30, the Edison Animal Shelter is hosting a shoe collection drive.
Gently-worn, used or new pairs of shoes may be dropped off at the Animal Shelter, 125 Municipal Blvd., across from the Edison Municipal Complex.
The shoe drive is to raise money to pay for shelter improvements and animal care, said shelter manager Kirsten Arcell. The shelter needs a new coat of paint on the outside, new flooring and the dog kennels need to be renovated, she said.

The Edison Animal Shelter handled nearly 1,030 animals last year, including spaying and neutering services for 400 cats. With assistance from a local PetSmart, the shelter found new homes for 213 cats and 89 dogs last year.
Based on number of pairs collected, the Animal Shelter will earn money from Funds2Orgs, a Florida-based non-profit that buys donated shoes. Funds2Orgs repairs, cleans and resells shoes and uses the proceeds to provide food, clothing and housing to impoverished people in Haiti, Honduras and 25 other developing nations in Central America and Africa.
