Edison Firefighters Try to Save Horse That Fell in Snow

The horse fell in deep snow at Petti Farm, near Plainfield Country Club.

Edison Township, NJ - Edison firefighters tried, but were unable to save a horse that fell in deep snow Tuesday afternoon, reports mycentraljersey.com.

Workers at Petti Farm, off Petti Lane in north Edison Township, called the fire department at noon Tuesday, to report that a 27-year-old horse named Tank had fallen in the deep snow and they needed firefighters to help them lift the animal.

A farm veterinarian, staff and firefighters tried to get Tank back upright, but were unable, because of his weight, the deep snow and the location of his pen, according to the report.

Because the horse had been lying on the ground for so long, he had severe loss of blood circulation to his legs. The farm’s vet recommended he be euthanized.
