See a Garden Field Day and Open House at the Earth Center

Come see the Garden Field Day and Open House at the Earth Center, home to Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Middlesex County on August 20. The event will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The raindate is set for August 21.

The Garden Field Day will take place at the Earth Center located at 42 Riva Avenue in Davidson’s Mill Pond Park, South Brunswick.

Remember to bring food donations to the event which will be given to the Middlesex County Emergency Food Distribution Network; a charitable organization that serves over 70 local food pantries and soup kitchens. Drop off any of the following items: tuna fish, boxed cereal, boxed macaroni and cheese, cans of condensed milk, canned meats and pastas, peanut butter, jelly, canned vegetables, brown rice, paper products, toiletries, baby supplies. Please do not bring any items packaged in glass receptacles.

The Garden Field day event will also host a “Greatest of the Garden” contest. Visitors are welcome to bring any of the following home grown items to the event to enter into one of the following categories: Biggest Tomato, Biggest Cucumber, Biggest Zucchini, Biggest Pumpkin, Biggest Squash, Biggest Water Melon, Biggest Sunflower Head, Longest Gourd, Smallest Pumpkin, Smallest Cherry Tomato, Oddest Heirloom Tomato, Hottest Pepper Variety and a vegetable that best resembles a celebrity or historical figure. A small award will be given to the winners.
