Festival de Cine At The Woodbridge Main Library

Explore Hispanic and Latino American culture and heritage with Free Films at the Woodbridge Main Library!

On September 18 the Woodbridge Main Library will begin a free Hispanic Heritage Film series scheduled each Friday at 2 p.m. that will highlight the culture and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans.

The first movie is Before Night Falls, a biopic about Cuban novelist and poet Reinaldo Arenas starring Javier Barden and Johnny Depp.

On September 25, we will screen Amores Perros, an intense Mexican thriller consisting of three distinct stories linked by a car accident.

October 2 will feature Instructions Not Included, a Mexican comedy co-written, directed by, and starring Mexican television star and race car driver Eugenio Derbez.

In the Time of Butterflies, a fictionalized account of Dominican revolutionaries starring Selma Hayek and based on Julia Alvarez’s historical novel will be shown on October 9 followed by The Motorcycle Diaries, an inspirational adventure based on Che Guevara’s memoir of the same name.

The series ends on October 23 with Sin Nombre, an award-winning but chilling Mexican-American thriller focusing on a Honduran girl’s attempt to emigrate to Mexico and then on to the United States.
