Firefighter Injured Fighting House Fire In Woodbridge Wednesday Afternoon

A three-story home under construction on East Prospect Avenue caught fire Wednesday afternoon:

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A fire broke out at a house under construction on East Prospect Avenue in Woodbridge Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters were met with fire coming from the third floor of the three-story home, with fire extending into the attic space, according to the Woodbridge Township Professional Firefighters Association, which has photos of the house on fire.

Conditions quickly deteriorated and there were multiple ceiling collapses.

Crews were pulled from the structure, and the fire rose to second-alarm status, bringing in firefighters from across Woodbridge and Middlesex County.

The fire was declared under control at the two-hour mark. One firefighter was minorly injured fighting the blaze.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Woodbridge Fire Prevention Bureau, Avenel Fire Prevention Bureau and Woodbridge Police Department Detective Bureau.

Companies on scene were Woodbridge, Port Reading, Avenel, Hopelawn, Perth Amboy, Colonia, Iselin Dist. 9, Edison and Middlesex County Haz-Mat. Iselin Dist. 9 also provided an engine for coverage in Woodbridge throughout the duration of the incident.
