Houlihan's Closes Woodbridge Location On Rt. 1

The last day of business for the Houlihan's on Rt. 1 in Metuchen/Woodbridge was Dec. 28, 2019, the company announced.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Houlihan's abruptly decided to shutter two of its New Jersey locations on Sunday, as the chain attempts to emerge intact after a 2019 bankruptcy filing, and a new buyer offer from Landry's.

And one of those locations is the Houlihan's on Rt. 1 in Metuchen/Woodbridge, now closed. The other location that will close is the Houlihan's on Rt. 17 in Hasbrouck Heights.

"There is never a good time to close a restaurant, but due to the wind-down of the bankruptcy estate, the last day of business for both of these locations was December 28 (2019)," said Matt Manning, chief restructuring officer for Houlihan’s Restaurants, Inc. (HRI), as Patch initially reported.

Houlihan's Restaurants, Inc. filed for bankruptcy in 2019. In November, the business announced it would be purchased by Landry’s, a restaurant conglomerate that owns dozens of chain restaurants across the U.S., including Joe's Crab Shack, McCormick & Schmick's, Dos Caminos and many more. The sale gave Houlihan's "new financing commitments that will provide sufficient liquidity to fund the business" through 2020, said the company in a statement.

Here are the remaining Houlihan's locations in New Jersey, all of which will remain open: Bayonne, Brick, Bridgewater, Cherry Hill, Fairfield, Holmdel, New Brunswick, Paramus, Parsippany, Ramsey and Secaucus.
