The Mediterranean fast-casual concept plans to open locations in Holmdel, Freehold, Old Bridge, Woodbridge and East Brunswick.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A new business will open up in Woodbridge Township: The Hummus & Pita Co. announced Thursday a Woodbridge outpost will be part of their five-location expansion into New Jersey.

The Hummus & Pita Co. describes itself as "an NYC-based Mediterranean fast-casual concept." The company has signed a five-location franchise deal with owners Kaushal Shah and Rishi Parikh. The locations will be in Holmdel, Freehold, Old Bridge, Woodbridge and East Brunswick. A location for their Woodbridge store has not been announced yet and the opening is still a year away. Here are the proposed opening dates for those towns:

  • Holmdel: Spring 2018
  • Old Bridge Fall 2018
  • Freehold: Winter 2018
  • Woodbridge: Spring 2019
  • East Brunswick: Spring 2019

The only location that's so far been established is for the Holmdel store, and that will be located inside the new Bell Works, at 101 Crawfords Corner Road. The Hummus & Pita Co. sells freshly baked pita and laffa breads, vegetarian dishes, and meats cooked in a traditional taboon oven. They also have a line of sweet dessert hummuses. They are currently based in Chelsea, Tribeca and Hell’s Kitchen and have committed to similar multi-unit deals in Connecticut and Denver, Colorado.
