Man Dies at Metuchen YMCA

A 44-year-old man died in the swimming pool of the Metuchen YMCA.

Metuchen, NJ - A 44-year-old man died in the swimming pool of the Metuchen YMCA late Sunday afternoon, Metuchen police confirmed to Patch. There is no criminality suspected in his death, Sgt. Arthur Flaherty said.

The man is an out-of-state resident from Tennessee, Flaherty said.

Police were called to the YMCA on High Street in Metuchen at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. He was pulled out of the pool by lifeguards, who provided care and called 911, said Rose Cushing, President & CEO of the Metuchen YMCA.

That YMCA is officially known as the YMCA of Metuchen, Edison, Woodbridge and South Amboy.

An autopsy is pending with an official cause of death.
