Man Jumps Off Driscoll Bridge to his Death

Another suicide off the Garden State Parkway Driscoll Bridge Tuesday morning.

Woodbridge, NJ - Tragically, a man jumped to his death off the Garden State Parkway's Driscoll Bridge Tuesday morning, State Police confirmed to Patch, in the second Driscoll Bridge suicide this year.

State police were called to the southbound lanes of the bridge at 7:02 a.m., said Sgt. Jeff Flynn. The man's body was recovered in the water far below, and he was pulled out of Raritan Bay with assistance from Perth Amboy police.

He was pronounced dead at 7:45 a.m. Troopers are still working to notify his next of kin, so his age and residency will not be released yet.

This is hardly the first suicide from the Driscoll Bridge: On Feb. 13, an unidentified woman fatally jumped from the bridge near the same spot where this man did. Her body was also recovered in the water below.

The Driscoll Bridge is the massive, 15-lane Garden State Parkway bridge that spans the mouth of the Raritan Bay and connects Woodbridge and Sayreville.
