Man Shot Dead in Carteret

A Carteret man was found shot dead outside his home late Monday night.

Carteret, NJ - Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a Carteret man found dead outside his home late Monday night.

Briccio Guevara, 63, was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway, where he was pronounced dead shortly after he was discovered at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, said Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief John Pieczyski of the Carteret Police Department.

Police were alerted when neighbors called, reporting the sound of gunfire. An autopsy by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the man had been shot to death.

No arrests have been made, but the investigation is active and is continuing.
