Middlesex County to Preserve 18 Acres Within Dismal Swamp
The land is part of the Dismal Swamp, a marshy area in between the towns of Edison, South Plainfield and Metuchen.

Middlesex County, NJ - Middlesex County plans to purchase 18.27 acres of forest for the county’s Open Space Preservation Program, which protects the land from future development, reports Greater Media Newspapers.
The land is part of the Dismal Swamp, a marshy area in between the towns of Edison, South Plainfield, and Metuchen. The Dismal Swamp protects wildlife, but also provides flood protection to those areas.
The 18 acres are located in South Plainfield along the Edison border, next to the Adams Farm, which the county acquired for open space in 2009. With the addition of these 18 acres, Middlesex County has preserved or is in contract to preserve 7,808 acres total throughout the county, protecting it from future development.
