Movies @ Main: Libraries Rock!

Free movies @ the Woodbridge Main Library - Fridays @ 2 PM!

On June 22 the Woodbridge Main Library will begin a new film series scheduled Friday afternoons at 2 PM that will feature musicals. The first movie is La La Land, the well regarded romantic comedy starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. La La Land recently received six Academy Awards for Best Director, Best Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, Best Original Song ("City of Stars"), and Best Production Design. On June 29, we will screen School of Rock, a fun comedy with Jack Black as a substitute teacher who tries to turn a group of talented fourth graders into a band. July 6 will feature Ray, a biographical film depicting the amazing life of Ray Charles. Actor, Jamie Foxx, received a Best Actor award for his portrayal of Charles. Cadillac Records, a drama about the founder of Chess records, Leonard Chess, will be shown on July 13, followed by Mamma Mia, a jukebox musical about a young girl on the eve of her wedding. On July 27 we will present Not Fade Away, a dramatic film by The Sopranos creator David Chase. Set in the 60s, Not Fade Away depicts a group of young friends who try to start a band. Our series concludes on August 3 with Hairspray, an energetic, upbeat film focusing on a group of teens dancing on a local television program in Baltimore, Maryland.
