NFL Characters Unite Documentary Viewing Party In Rahway

Rahway Branch is hosting a viewing party for the NFL Characters Unite documentary on Friday, February 6 at 7:00pm. Part of USA Network’s award-winning public service program, Characters Unite, the documentary profiles NFL stars who share deeply personal stories of facing hardships in their lives and mentor young people in their communities who currently face similar challenges.

The viewing party will be held at the Rahway Branch, 1564 Irving Street, Rahway.

“At the Y, we provide daily support to youth and teens. This documentary shines a light on important issues like bullying and discrimination, and we are excited to share the documentary with others in the community,” stated Krystal R. Canady, CEO. The Gateway Family YMCA has served the community for over 100 years.

Four local Ys participated in the documentary, working with the producers and the profiled players to provide opportunities for the young people facing challenges such as bullying and discrimination: YMCA of Greater Kansas City with Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles, Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA with Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles, YMCA Buffalo Niagara with Buffalo Bills defensive end Mario Williams, YMCA of Greater Seattle and 2014 Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl champion cornerback Richard Sherman and coach Pete Carroll.

The annual documentary, narrated by former NFL star and NBC Sunday Night Football Emmy®-winning sportscaster Cris Collinsworth, premieres on Friday, February 6 on USA Network.
