Photos From Ciattarelli's Woodbridge Diner Visit Thursday

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — In case you missed it, here are photos of Jack Ciattarelli's quick stop at the Reo diner on Amboy Ave. in Woodbridge Thursday morning.

The photos were taken by Tom Maras, an outspoken Woodbridge Republican resident and currently running this fall for a seat on the Woodbridge school board.

Over the years, Maras has been one of the town's most outspoken critics of Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac, a Democrat.

It was Maras and the Woodbridge Republican Party that invited Ciattarelli to the Reo. This latest Stockton poll out Thursday shows Ciattarelli trailing 9 points behind Gov. Phil Murphy, which is a closer gap than this Monmouth University poll showed Wednesday, which had Murphy 11 points ahead.

In New Jersey, the number of Democratic voters heavily outnumber Republican.

Maras said Thursday's event attracted about 100 people inside the diner, and 20-30 people waiting outside. He said there were no protesters and said Ciattarelli "was there for a good 50 minutes; he really made the rounds and talked to everyone, asked them what their issues were and concerns for voting."

He also said several state media outlets were there, including NJ Politico.

"The enthusiasm was very high," said Maras.

Later Thursday night, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders will stump with Gov. Murphy at a rally on the Rutgers New Brunswick campus. That begins at 6:45 p.m.

Election Day is Nov. 2, but under a new voting law passed this year, voters can machine vote early from Oct. 23 - Oct. 31. In Woodbridge, you can vote early in person here:

• Woodbridge Acacia Youth Center 95 Port Reading Avenue Woodbridge 07095 Hours: Mon-Sat 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sun 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

If you'd prefer to vote by mail, there are 2 places to drop your ballot in Woodbridge:

• Woodbridge town hall, 1 Main Street
• Woodbridge Library 1 George Frederick Plaza. Drop box is curbside.

Vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked or placed in drop boxes on or before 8 p.m. on Nov. 2, Election Day.

Or vote Nov. 2 at your usual polling place.
