Piscataway Man Catches Baby, Toddler Dropped From Burning Home

Mario Reyes, who lives on West 4th Street, caught a baby and a toddler who were dropped out of a burning home on that block Tuesday morning.

PISCATAWAY, NJ — A Piscataway man is being recognized as a hero after he saved a toddler and a baby from a burning home in the Township earlier this week.

The dramatic incident unfolded early Tuesday morning: A home on West 4th Street in Piscataway became consumed by flames, according to the Township in a statement.

Mario Reyes, who lives across the street, ran into the burning home and pulled one adult out of the house to safety, said Piscataway Twp.

He also caught a baby and a toddler that had to be dropped from a second-story window by the mother.

All family members were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for examination and treatment.

The house on West 4th Street was unfortunately destroyed by the fire.

Reyes did not return multiple attempts by Patch for comment.
