Port Authority Reunites Dog Sleeping In Construction Yard

STATEN ISLAND, NJ — This pup has been missing on Staten Island since last Wednesday. He was found Tuesday morning, Sept. 19, snoozing in a construction yard near the Bayonne Bridge.

A Port Authority engineer found him at about 11 a.m. Tuesday; she noticed an unleashed dog sleeping on the site. The pooch, a black and white mixed breed, was wearing a red harness with no ID tags. The engineer turned to Facebook to look for clues about the owner and sure enough, discovered a lost dog flyer on the page "Lost & Found Pets Staten Island."

The picture on the flyer matched the found dog. The owners were contacted by Port Authority police and reunited with the dog, named Stoney, a Port Authority spokesman said. The reunion occurred today.
