Reminder: Crackdown On Drunk Drivers Starts Friday In Woodbridge

Woodbridge police will be cracking down on drunk drivers through the statewide 2015 Labor Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.

The campaign begins Friday and runs through Sept. 7.

In Woodbridge, police plan to set up both DWI checkpoints and roving patrols, said Capt. Allen Bloodgood.

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over is a national campaign that began in 1999 to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving. Police use both high-visibility enforcement and public education tools, according to a news release about the program.

In 2013, alcohol-impaired fatalities accounted for 27 percent of New Jersey’s motor vehicle fatalities, the news release said.
