Rt. 9 Accident in Old Bridge: Multiple Deaths Reported

Video of crash scene: Three dead, and two more seriously injured, according to a report.

UPDATE: As of 4:56 p.m., the accident was cleared and Rt. 9 is now open in both directions, Old Bridge police said.

Old Bridge Police are not releasing any details until the accident scene investigation is complete, a police officer told Patch.

As previously reported by Patch, Rt. 9 North through Old Bridge Township had been closed for hours due to the crash. Rt. 9 was closed for one hour in both directions , from about 1-2 p.m.

As of 1:55 p.m., Rt. 9 southbound between Fairway and Tice Town Road had reopened. Rt. 9 north remained closed from Rt. 18 to Fairway Lane.

Police are still on the scene of the accident.

Old Bridge, NJ - Multiple fatalities are now being reported in a very serious accident Tuesday on Rt. 9 in Old Bridge.

Three people were killed and two more were seriously injured in the crash, sources tell NJ.com. The crash occurred at 12:30 p.m. on Rt. 9 North at Rt. 516. Video footage from the scene captured by Eyewitness News shows two crumpled cars and skid marks on the roadway, circled by police in red chalk. A Manalapan woman driving by took photos of the crash scene (see below in photo gallery).
