Severe Thunderstorm Warning Tuesday for Central Jersey

Monmouth, Middlesex counties in the path of a line of severe thunderstorms. Wind gusts may be near 60 mph, with tree and wire damage.

The National Weather Service has posted a severe thunderstorm warning for most of central New Jersey until 2:45 p.m. Tuesday.

A severe storm warning was issued for all of Monmouth and Middlesex counties. Doppler radar showed a line of severe thunderstorms just east of the Delaware River moving east at 45 mph. Wind gusts historically in these storms are near 60 mph, and bring tree and wire damage, as well as very heavy rain. Stay indoors during a storm, and do not drive through flooded roadways, police said. Be alert for flash flooding.

Towns that may be impacted include New Brunswick, Perth Amboy, Edison, Middletown, Old Bridge, East Brunswick, South Brunswick and North Brunswick.
