Some 4 to 5 Inches of Snow Has Fallen in Middlesex County

Woodbridge schools are closed today because of the weather. Cold temperature expected again tomorrow.

Some 4 to 5 inches of snow has fallen in Middlesex County today, and in Woodbridge, school are closed because of the weather.

Here are some snow totals from social media and trained spotters, according to the National Weather Service:

  • Spotswood, 4.5 inches as of 7:30 a.m.
  • South Plainfield, 4.2 inches as of 8 a.m.
  • Edison, 4.0 inches as of 7:30 a.m.
  • Metuchen, 4.0 inches as of 7:30 a.m.
  • Helmetta, 3.0 inches as of 3:35 a.m.
  • Perth Amboy, 2.0 inches as of 4:30 a.m.
  • East Brunswick, 2.0 inches as of 3:15 a.m.
  • Old Bridge, 1.8 inches as of 5:05 a.m.

In South Brunswick, police said about 5 inches of snow fell. State highways are passable at reduced speeds, and plows are working to clear snow on side streets, South Brunswick police said.

Police expected road conditions to improve by mid-day.

But the cold temperatures will remain throughout the day.

In Middlesex County today, high temperatures are expected to reach about 25 degrees, while tonight’s low will be around 12, according to the National Weather Service. There’s a chance of snow showers again tomorrow, when the high will reach about 29 degrees.
