The Spin Doctors To Headline Carteret's Summer Concert Series

The '90s band behind such hits as "Two Princes" and "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" will play at the end of Carteret's summer concert series.

CARTERET, NJ — 90s' alternative rock band The Spin Doctors will headline Carteret’s 2019 Ethnic Day celebration, at the tail end of its free summer concert series.

Yes, the band behind such hits as "Two Princes" and "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong," will play at the end of the summer concert series, at Carteret's annual Ethnic Day event, held Sept. 21 this year. This is a free public concert that begins at 7 p.m. on the 21st. It will be held at Carteret Park.

Ethnic Day is an annual celebration of Carteret’s diverse community, featuring food from many different countries and cultures. Each year, Ethnic Day features a headlining act with national significance, and this year's is the Spin Doctors.

Their songs propelled them to the top of the popular music charts in the mid-90s, and landed them an appearance on "Saturday Night Live." They have toured the world performing since 1991 and are excited to perform at Carteret’s Ethnic Day, according to a press release from the town.

Before Sept. 21, Carteret will also feature two Summer Concert Series – Concerts by the Bay at Carteret Waterfront Park (200 Middlesex Avenue) and Concerts in the Park at Carteret Park (between Carteret Avenue and Cypress Street).

The Concerts by the Bay series runs Sunday nights from the end of June through August. Here is the schedule:

June 30: Moonlight Mile, a Rolling Stone tribute band

July 7: Sir Elton, an Elton John tribute performer

July 14: Amish Outlaws, a popular Jersey Shore based cover band comprised primarily by men who were raised Amish in Pennsylvania

July 21: Garden State Radio, a legendary pop cover band who has performed all around the state

July 28: The Infernos, who have performed everything from Sinatra to today’s hits for decades at events throughout New Jersey

August 4: Beginnings, a Chicago Tribute Band

August 11: Jersey Sound, who performed Jersey’s favorite hits

August 18: The Red Rose Jazz Combo, a great, all-woman jazz band who write all their own music

August 25: New Power Soul, which performs classic to modern hits

Concerts in the Park at Carteret Park, occur every Friday night from July through August. They feature local Central Jersey bands. The schedule:

July 5: Bill Turner & The Blue Smoke Band, who perform everything from the 50s to today

July 12: Memphis Rain, whose eclectic taste ranges from Jazz to R&B, Motown to current hits

July 19: Party of Five, which highlights Doo-Wop, Motown, and classic rock

July 26: The Larry Stevens Band, who perform dynamic and energetic originals

Aug. 9: The Crosstones, a Doo-Wop love song band, on August 2nd; Karickter Band, which performs Jazz, R&B, Motown, and Contemporary

August 16: The Sell Outs, a self-described “Rockin’ six-piece cover band"

August 23: Masterpiece, which performs the best classics

August 30: Strictly 60’s, a fun 60’s Pop and Rock band

Concert attendees are encouraged to bring their most comfortable chair and desired refreshments. All the concerts start at 7 p.m. and usually run approximately two hours.
