A 19-year-old Staten Island man was killed at 12:30 p.m. Monday in a car crash on Rt. 440 in Woodbridge Township.
WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A 19-year-old Staten Island man was killed at midday Monday in a car crash on Rt. 440 in Woodbridge Township.
The man has been identified as Joey Lopez, 19, of Staten Island, according to New Jersey State Police.
The crash occurred at 12:24 p.m. Monday on Rt. 440 northbound.

State Police say a tractor trailer had pulled over on the road and was parked in the right shoulder 440.
A Honda Accord, driven by Lopez, was traveling north when it veered into the right shoulder and struck the rear of the tractor trailer, causing both vehicles to catch on fire.

As a result of the crash, Lopez sustained fatal injuries and the tractor trailer driver sustained minor injuries.
The right two lanes of Rt. 440 were closed for three hours at midday Monday, resulting in heavy traffic congestion.
The crash remains under investigation, said State Police.
