Suspicious School Bus Called In At Marlboro Commons
A suspicious bag inside an old school bus shut down the intersection of Rt. 9 and Rt. 520 near the Marlboro Commons shopping center Nov. 2.

MARLBORO, NJ — A suspicious bag inside an old school bus shut down the intersection of Rt. 9 and Rt. 520 near the Marlboro Commons shopping center this past Friday afternoon, Nov. 2, police said. However, the bag was ultimately found to contain materials for a composting toilet.
Police first got a call at 4:23 p.m. of a suspicious vehicle parked at the Marlboro Commons shopping center. Police located an old school bus that was in the process of being converted to private use. Officers observed a large bag wrapped in what appeared to be electrical wires in the front of the bus, giving cause for alarm.
As a precaution, Marlboro police began shutting down the surrounding roadways and clearing pedestrians from the area while investigating the school bus and bag.

A short time later the owner of the school bus was located and it was discovered that the bag contained material needed for the construction of a compost toilet. Further investigation determined that the material and wires posed no threat to the public and the roadways were opened to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
