Tour The Metuchen Whole Foods: Photos

Take a photo tour sneak peek of New Jersey's newest Whole Foods, located at 645 Middlesex Avenue in Metuchen.

METUCHEN, NJ — The Metuchen Whole Foods opens Wednesday, Oct. 11 but Patch was allowed in for a sneak peek at all the wholesome goodness that awaits shoppers. Check out this sneak peek of New Jersey's newest Whole Foods, located at 645 Middlesex Avenue in Metuchen.

The Metuchen store has all the healthy and unique items shoppers have come to expect from Whole Foods, but the Metuchen location also offers new things: A build-your-own Asian BBQ station; a full-service butcher and sausages made in house and last but not least, a full bar/restaurant Mexican cantina with a craft beer on tap and tons of outdoor seating. Perfect for grabbing a blood orange or pineapple mint margarita and relaxing outside while the weather's still warm!

Think Whole Foods is too expensive? After Whole Foods was bought by Amazon this summer, the store has put an emphasis on lowering prices, says Whole Foods spokesman Ted Kwong. You'll see Haas avocados for sale for $1.49, whereas they used to be $2.50, and Gala apples for $1.99, which used to be $2.99.

"We've been working for a long time to tackle that head on. That's a big focus of what we've been doing: Tackling prices and making Whole Foods more affordable," said Kwong.

Like all Whole Foods, the store caters to a variety of different diets, including Paleo, vegan and flexitarian. They sell organic and non-organic produce to offer shoppers different price points.

There's also a coffee shop and juice bar where you can get unique drinks like a turmeric latte and bullet coffee (that's coffee blended with coconut oil or another fat), plus Horchata cold brew.

This is the 18th Whole Foods in New Jersey.

There's also the standard Whole Body department, which sells organic soaps, clothing, yoga mats, make-up, face wash, body lotions and more, some of which have been made locally by Lux Naturals right here in Edison, NJ.
