Woodbridge firefighters won the fitness challenge, which raised $2,100 for the Woodbridge Township Domestic Violence Response Team.

Woodbridge police and firefighters raised $2,100 for the local Domestic Violence Response Team last week, when they faced off in a fitness challenge.

Firefighters won that fitness challenge, by completing the five events with the lowest overall time:

  • Tire Flip, which required players to flip a 180-pound truck tire from the sideline to the center of the field and back, for a total of 50 yards
  • Victim Rescue, which required players to drag a 100-pound dummy for 100 yards
  • Sprint, Plus Push-ups, which required players to sprint 25 yards, do 25 push-ups, sprint another 25 yards, do 25 more push-ups then sprint another 50 yards
  • 200-Yard Sprint
  • 20-foot Rope Climb

Mayor John E. McCormac presented a trophy to the fire department’s team. Woodbridge High School students acted as referees and time-keepers.

The event was held at the Woodbridge High School football field and organized by Police Sgt. John Roesler and Fire Capt. Paul DeLeo.

Police said they wanted to thank the Woodbridge Board of Education, Woodbridge High School and all the volunteers who made the day a success.
