Watch Live Stream: N.J. Governor's Race Debate

These six candidates want to be your next governor. For the first time, watch them debate live right here, starting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Tonight, Tuesday May 9, you can watch the first New Jersey governor's primary race debate from the comfort of your home computer, laptop or cell phone. The debate is held at Stockton University in South Jersey and will include both Democratic and Republican candidates seeking to become New Jersey's next governor. You can watch the entire debate live below.

The debate starts at 6:30 p.m. The two Republican candidates debate first, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Then there is a half hour intermission. The four Democratic gubernatorial candidates debate from 8 to 9 p.m. The Republican candidates do not debate the Democrat candidates, as this is the debate for the primary race. On the Republican side, Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli and Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno will debate each other. Four people are seeking the Democratic nomination to run, and they are Jim Johnson, State Sen. Ray Lesniak, former U.S. ambassador to Germany Phil Murphy and Assemblyman John Wisniewski.

Four of those candidates are participating in public financing, meaning they get public matching funds to finance their campaigns. As a requirement for public financing in New Jersey, a candidate must raise at least $430,000 in campaign donations by April 3. They also must participate in at least two public debates, including this one.

Those four candidates are Ciattarelli, Guadagno, Johnson and Wisniewski. Lesniak and Murphy are not seeking public financing but chose to participate tonight anyway, as this debate will receive the most media attention.

The second debate will be hosted and broadcast by NJ TV; it is broken into two different debates. The Democratic debate will be this Thursday, May 11; the Republican debate will be next Thursday, May 18.

Candidates such as Steven Rogers (R), Joe "Rudy" Rullo (R), activist Bill Brennan (D) and Mark Zinna (D) either did not file their nominating petitions in time to participate in tonight's debate or did not raise enough money. They said they would host their own debate at 5 p.m. on the Stockton University campus outside the main debate hall.

Sharon Schulman, Director of the Hughes Center for Public Policy at Stockton, will moderate. The public was invited to submit questions and she will also ask some of her own.
