Hundreds gathered in Highland Park to march in honor of George Floyd, for fair policing nationwide and to call for an end to racism.

HIGHLAND PARK, NJ — Highland Park police shared this photo of the peaceful protest that occurred there Tuesday evening.

Hundreds gathered to march in honor of George Floyd and to protest police brutality.

“This anticipated peaceful demonstration is a show of solidarity demanding accountability taken for all officers involved in the death of George Floyd,” said local Assemblyman Jamel Holley, according to TAP Into. “We have again lost a black male senselessly. I must repeat, WE stand in solidarity for the common good of humanity.”

There were similar peaceful protests all across New Jersey Tuesday evening, from Jersey City to Keansburg to Toms River, where Toms River police marched with protesters. In Jersey City, protesters shouted at police to take a knee in Floyd's honor; only a few complied; see the photos.

The protest march started on Woodbridge Avenue and walked all the way to the Raritan Bridge.
