Woodbridge Armored Car Driver Given Chance To Reapply For Gun Permit

The driver's gun permit was revoked at a meeting he wasn't informed of. A Superior Court Judge reversed that ruling.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ-- A Woodbridge man was given the chance to get his gun license back after it was improperly taken away by a judge, court records show.

A Superior Court reversed a previous ruling, in which Woodbridge resident Rickey R. Duncanson's handgun permit was unexpectedly rejected-- after being approved.

A meeting to revoke Duncanson's license was held without Duncanson in attendance, with no notice to him.

The Superior Court ruled that Duncanson had the right to be in attendance at the meeting, and should have been notified that it was occurring. The ruling means that Duncanson can reapply for a handgun, not that it will necessarily be approved.

Duncanson was issued a limited permit to carry a handgun only for his job as an armored car driver for Guarda, which was to expire at the end of Jan. 2015. He applied to renew the permit in Nov. 2014, and the application was accepted.

His handgun license was then revoked in a Jan. 21, 2015 hearing, after a judge noticed that the expired license had reportedly been altered to give Duncan the right to carry a handgun anywhere.
