Woodbridge Auto Body Fire Closes Off Rahway Ave.

An early morning fire brought out firefighters.

An early morning fire that broke out in a Rahway Avenue auto body shop had Woodbridge firefighters battling it by breaking through the roof and shooting sprays of water into the smokey blaze.

responded to the blaze at Woodbridge Auto Body at about 7:15 am Tuesday. The fire caused to close off Rahway Avenue to commuters seeking to use the road to cut over to Route 1. The street was closed for several blocks between Hillside and Bucknell Avenues. 

Cars were using side streets to make their way around the fire by driving down Ridgedale Avenue, which runs parallel to Rahway Avenue.

Firefighters used a ladder truck to reach the roof, from where billows of smoke were pouring. One fireman used a power saw to cut a hole in the mansard roof, while another firefighter fought the blaze through another opening. 

The firefighters were still fighting the blaze at 8:15 am.
