Woodbridge Braces for Looming Winter Storm

Do not park your car on these snow emergency streets in Woodbridge:

Woodbridge, NJ - The plows are ready. The salt bins are full. Major streets will be pre-treated with brine first thing Friday morning.

As the major nor’easter winter storm bears down on New Jersey, Woodbridge Township is getting ready.

“We have 47 trucks with plows, and all of our salt bins are fully stocked,” township spokesman John Hagerty told Patch Wednesday. “We manufacture our own brine for pre-treating roads and will apply to the major streets Friday during the day.”

While Hagerty said officials have their fingers crossed for a ”nor’easter rain event,” that’s looking increasingly unlikely. The storm has intensified, according to AccuWeather, and snow could fall for a continuous 24 hour period starting late Friday night, after 2 a.m.

A Winter Weather advisory has been posted for Woodbridge starting Friday at 5:00 p.m. and continuing thru Saturday, Hagerty said.

Do not park your cars on certain streets

Residents who live on Snow Emergency streets are instructed to remove their cars from the street in order for plowing to take place. Vehicles that remain on the streets will be towed, Hagerty warns. A list of Snow Emergency streets in Woodbridge can be found here.

Parking prohibitions will remain in effect on all streets until they have been plowed, he said.

Primary highways and streets will be plowed first; secondary and neighborhood streets will be plowed as quickly as Public Works crews can get to them, he said.

Residents are reminded to not push snow back onto plowed streets, he added. Also, residents are asked to dig out fire hydrants that have been covered in snow. If possible, check on homebound seniors throughout the storm, he asked.
