Woodbridge Business Leaders Visit Schools

Local business leaders got to serve as principals for the day at Woodbridge schools this week.

Local business leaders got to serve as principals for the day at Woodbridge schools this week.

The Principal For A Day program is coordinated by the Mayor’s Advocacy Committee for Education (MAC-E), with Superintendent of Schools Robert Zega, Mayor John E. McCormac, the business community and school principals.

“Principal-For-A-Day is a unique opportunity for township business leaders to interact with township students, principals, and education officials throughout the Woodbridge School system and to obtain a behind-the-scenes look at the quality of schools and caliber of education in Woodbridge Township,’’ the mayor said in a prepared statement. “Principal-For-A-Day also allows educators and school administrators to better understand the types of skills being sought by area employers, latest industry trends, and how to better prepare township students for future success in area businesses.”

The business leaders visited the schools on Monday and Tuesday and spent a morning or afternoon there.

“This day gives our principals in Woodbridge Township the opportunity to showcase their schools and special programs and engage local business persons in a class room experience,” Bernadette M. Sohler, the vice-president of Middlesex Water Company and the chair of Mayor’s Advocacy Committee for Education, said in a prepared statement. “It also gives our students the chance to interact with different business professionals, learn about different industries, ask questions and better understand the skills needed to excel in certain professions.”
