Woodbridge Center Mall Carnival Suddenly Canceled By Operator

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — The carnival scheduled to take place at Woodbridge Center Mall on May 29 - 31 was just abruptly canceled by the carnival operator, Woodbridge Center announced Wednesday.

"We understand this may be disappointing and appreciate your understanding and patience," the mall said on their Facebook page. "Please check for future updates regarding upcoming events and activities at Woodbridge Center."

The mall did not give a reason why. But last May, more than 500 teens descended on the mall and carnival on a Saturday night, in what Woodbridge Police say was another pop-up party.

The carnival had to shut down early due to fights breaking out among teenagers in line waiting to get in, Woodbridge Police said last year. After the carnival closed early, groups of teens poured into the mall and some stores in the mall closed early, and there were reports of customers sheltering in place inside stores, afraid to go out, as packs of teens ran through the mall. Videos posted to TikTok and other social media platforms showed teens running through the mall screaming and jumping on top of furniture.

"Woodbridge Police learned that a pop-up party was planned for Saturday, May 24 at the Woodbridge Center mall during the carnival. Initial posts indicated a 1:30 p.m. start time, but later posts, one of which garnered approximately 17,000 likes, changed the time to 6:00 p.m.," Woodbridge Police said in May 2025.
