Woodbridge To Get More Than $3 Million Grant To Demolish Flood-Prone Homes In Town

Woodbridge will get a more than $3 million grant to buy and demolition flood-prone homes.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded grants totaling more than $7.5 million to Woodbridge and Manville, according to an announcement from U.S. Senators Robert Menendez and Cory Booker (both D-N.J.)
“Buyouts of flood-prone homes are critical to New Jersey’s long-term recovery from Superstorm Sandy,” Booker said in a prepared statement. “This funding is another step forward in keeping our residents safe from future storms. I will continue to work with New Jersey’s Congressional delegation to ensure FEMA lives up to their commitment to New Jersey’s full recovery.”

Woodbridge will get a $3,862,563 grant, which will be used to buy and demolish 98 homes damaged by Superstorm Sandy, the news release said.
Manville will get a $3.7 million grant to demolish 104 homes in that borough.
