Woodbridge Man, 92, Donates His $1,200 Stimulus Check
This 92-year-old Woodbridge man received his $1,200 COVID stimulus check. And gave it all away to a local food bank.
WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Assuming they qualify, not all Americans have even received their first $1,200 stimulus check from the federal government. But this 92-year-old Woodbridge resident got his — and he gave it away.
"In one of the most heartwarming stories of our entire COVID-19 experience these last two months, a 92-year-old resident of Woodbridge named Eugene received a $1,200 check under the federal stimulus package and turned it over to We Feed Woodbridge because he said he didn’t need it," said Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac. "Imagine that."
The man is named Eugene and declined to even publicly release his last name, saying he did not want publicity for his donation.

We Feed Woodbridge is a community-driven food bank. They are always very active in the area, any time of the year, but have been particularly busy during the coronavirus shutdown as many people are out of work. Every day throughout the pandemic, Woodbridge Township puts an online call-out for residents to donate food.
"Eugene wishes to remain anonymous," said a Woodbridge spokeswoman. "He does not wish to be recognized further."
