Woodbridge Mayor Reports Positive Downward Trend Continues

Woodbridge ended its lowest week of new coronavirus cases in over a month, and started Monday "on the right foot" with only 15 new cases.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — On Saturday, May 2 Woodbridge ended its lowest week of new coronavirus cases in over a month, and started Monday "on the right foot" with only 15 new cases, said Mayor John McCormac.

"Five of our lowest six days since April 1 have been in the last eight days," he said.

Also, all the state-run COVID testing sites, such as PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel and the Bergen Community College site are now open to the general public and people without symptoms.

The Bergen site is open on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 8 a.m. and they can test 500 people per day, who must be New Jersey residents. High priority will be given to healthcare workers, workers in congregate living settings, symptomatic first responders and those in close contact with someone who has tested positive.

The PNC Bank Arts Center site is open at 8 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesday to the general public and Saturdays for health care workers and first responders only. Both sites are drive-thru.

Woodbridge rescheduled the Summerfest 2020 event from June 6 to September 5 in Merrill Park in Iselin.

"There is just no way we can have thousands of people together in a park just a month from now," McCormac said. "The Outlaws band has been rebooked for September and we are filling in the rest of the shows."
