Woodbridge PD Patrolling for Drunk Driving, Illegal Fireworks This Weekend

The Woodbridge PD is looking for 2 things this holiday weekend: Drunk drivers and illegal fireworks.

Woodbridge, NJ - The Woodbridge police department will be out in force over the long holiday weekend, looking primarily for two things: Drunk drivers and illegal fireworks.

There will not be any formal DUI checkpoints set up this weekend, but all patrols will be diligently looking for drunk drivers, Sgt. Roy Hoppock told Patch. Woodbridge PD will also patrolling for anyone in the township caught using illegal fireworks, and police WILL respond to any location where illegal fireworks are in use, they warned. The police will respond to any complaints or calls about illegal fireworks and ARRESTS WILL BE MADE, Woodbridge police warned in a memo sent out Thursday. Violators WILL be prosecuted and anyone found guilty of using fireworks illegally can be fined up to $500. Watch the Bergen County Sheriff's Office, above, blow up a watermelon to demonstrate the danger of hand-held fireworks.
