Woodbridge Police Officer Named to Board of Education
Joseph Velez takes over Brian Small's seat on the board.

Woodbridge, NJ - Joseph Velez, a police lieutenant with the Woodbridge Police Department, was sworn in to the Woodbridge Board of Education at its meeting on Jan. 21, reports the Sentinel.
Velez, pictured, is filling in for Brian Small’s remaining term, which lasts through the end of 2016. The board chose Velez over other candidates Sanjeev Kapoor, Kevin Robinson and former board member Judy Leidner.
“I am proud of this town and very interested in what is best for the students and residents. When we started a family, we knew right away that we wanted to stay [in the township because] we knew [our children] would receive the same quality of education that we have received,” said Velez, referring to himself and his wife, who both went to Woodbridge public schools.
