Woodbridge Police Plan Crackdown On Drunk Drivers
Here are the statistics for DWI arrests so far this year in town.

Woodbridge police will be cracking down on drunk drivers through the statewide 2015 Labor Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.
The campaign kicks off on Aug. 21 and runs through Sept. 7.
And Woodbridge police say they are on the look-out for impaired drivers throughout the year. They set up DWI checkpoints and conduct roving patrols all year long.

At those checkpoints, police have also issued 134 tickets for other offenses, said Bloodgood.
And, unrelated to the checkpoints, police have charged another 182 drivers with DWI this year in town, he said.
Throughout the state, police have been offering advice to drivers:
- “If you plan to drink, designate a driver, someone who will not drink alcohol, before going out.
- “Take mass transit, a taxi or ask a sober friend to drive you home.
- “Spend the night where the activity is held.
- “Report impaired drivers to law enforcement. In New Jersey, drivers may dial #77 to report a drunk or aggressive driver.
- “Always buckle up, every ride, regardless of your seating position in the vehicle. It’s your best defense against an impaired driver.
- “If you’re intoxicated and traveling on foot, the safest way to get home is to take a cab or have a sober friend or family member drive you to your doorstep.”
