Police have released the name of the 66-year-old Woodbridge man who died after he was hit by a vehicle on Route 1 north, police said.

Police have released the name of the 66-year-old Woodbridge man who died after he was hit by a vehicle on Route 1 north, police said.

Just before 2 p.m. Friday, Peter Petliski of Woodbridge Commons, was trying to cross the highway near the Miller Pontiac car dealership when he was hit by a vehicle, according to Capt. Roy Hoppock.

Petliski had been coming from the nearby ShopRite, police said.

The driver of the vehicle was a 28-year-old Old Bridge man, Hoppock said.

No charges have been filed, and the investigation was conducted by the Woodbridge Police Traffic Enforcement Unit.
