Woodbridge Police Vehicles Have New Messaging System
A new messaging system is connecting Woodbridge police to the community.

Woodbridge police have a new way of alerting drivers if there is danger ahead.
They recently unveiled a patrol vehicle that is equipped with computer messaging board equipment.
Eventually, police say, they plan to equip all of their new, marked radio patrol units with the scrolling message system.

“The scrolling messaging board system will enhance the visibility for motorists when approaching an emergency situation on the roadways,’’ Police Director Robert Hubner said in a news release. “Now necessary information can be displayed as motorists approach an area which may be closed off, or where traffic is being detoured.”
It can also display announcements that will scroll across the board while the officer is driving. Those 70 pre-programmed messages include child safety seat reminders and warnings against distracted driving.

“It is a great tool, not only for officer safety, but for public safety as well,” the director said.
