The American Cancer Society will hold the Relay for Life in Woodbridge this weekend.
The event begins at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Woodbridge High School.
The fundraising walk was first held in May 1985 when Dr. Gordy Klatt walked and ran around a track in Tacoma, Washington for 24 hours, according to the organization’s website.

He raised $27,000 for the American Cancer Society, and a year later, some 340 people joined the overnight event.
It has grown into a worldwide program that has raised almost $5 billion to fight cancer, the website said.
